Everyone loves a post-apocalyptic survivor story. In this tight and relentless film, a group of ragtag travelers armed with shotguns, axes and machetes walks the back roads of a ravaged landscape, until one of their team becomes ill and they are forced to seek shelter in an abandoned farmhouse. Rest is not an option as they take stock of their ammunition supply. The tightly knit group is united by clear-headed leader Rick (Dominic Monaghan of Lost and Lord of the Rings), but has also recently accepted a silent and defiant newcomer, Mary (Ashley Bell, The Last Exorcism), into the fold. Soon, the exhausted survivors will have to make a stand against a brutal world that they can no longer run from.
The world of The Day is all shades of gray — no easy answers, no obvious good guys or bad guys, just people struggling to survive under harsh circumstances. Choose your weapon and hunker down for a fight that could be humanity’s last battle. — Colin Geddes
