ActionFest 2012 FAQ Part 1

We’re less than 2 weeks away so here’s some information fest attendees need to know:

  1. Who’s coming? ActionFest will honor legendary stuntman Mickey Gilbert (Ben Hur, The Wild Bunch) with the Lifetime Achievement Award, pioneer in women’s MMA and Haywire star Gina Carano with the Chick Norris (Best Female Action Star) Award, and J.J. Perry (Warrior, Haywire) with the ActionFest Fight Choreographer of the Year Award. We still might have a few surprises up our sleeve as well!
  2. What Films have been announced? Solomon Kane, Bad Ass, The Aggression Scale, The Lost Bladesman, The Day, Headhunters, Goon, God Bless America, The Raid, and Wu Xia. Several more films will be announced soon. You can see trailers for all of the announced films here.
  3. Where will the films screen? The opening night screening of Solomon Kane will be at the Diana Wortham Theater and the closing night screening of Wu Xia will be at The Fine Arts Theater. Everything else will screen at The Carolina Asheville.
  4. Will I be able to see everything? No. Between the stunt show, panels, and films we’ve got a lot of action packed into 4 days. But whatever you decide to see will be worth it!
  5. How much are tickets? Single tickets (General tickets $8, Student/Senior $6, Military $7) and will be on sale once the full line-up and schedule are announced. All-Access Badges ($100)  which are good for admission to all ActionFest films and events including parties, panels, awards show and entry to the VIP Lounge/Powder Keg, are still available and can be purchased from www.actionfest.com.
  6. What is the VIP Lounge/Powder Keg? Regular visitors to The Carolina know it as the cinema lounge but during ActionFest is transforms into The Powder Keg! Vintage action titles will be screening constantly and several of our food and beverage partners will provide free catering. Right now we can confirm Sugar Mommas Cookies, Clingman Café, and BeanWerks will all be providing goodies at some point during the fest.
  7. Where is the opening night party? Arcade will be throwing the opening night party.
  8. Can you recommend a good place to stay? Our official hotel sponsors are The Brookstone Lodge and The Grove Park Inn. The Brookstone is offering a special ActionFest rate of $79/night but they are currently overbooked but it will never hurt to call and check for cancellations. Asheville is a great tourist town with several great lodging options near The Carolina.
